English Composition I & II

Earn college credit your senior year through Cloud County Community College by enrolling in English Composition I and II.

English Composition I: Read countless essays that model effective and formal writing. In total, you will compose five writing projects within one busy semester: (1) an analysis of your speech community in comparison to another speech community; (2) an analysis of an advertisement or political propaganda; (3) an expressive essay over a topic you feel passionate about; (4) an annotated bibliography; and (5) a comprehensive research paper.

English Composition II: English Composition II builds upon the skills you learned in English Composition I. The first part of the semester focuses on rhetoric and argumentative writing. Learn about the rhetorical appeals of ethos, logos, and pathos in addition to logical fallacies. Then take these concepts and apply them to your first essay that evaluates a scholarly argument. The next essay will be your own well-research argument before writing three essays that analyze literature. You will compose an analysis of a play, short story, and a poem. The sixth essay of the semester will be your final and relate to your personal experiences as you complete your senior year of high school.
